Napier City Centre Earthquake Tour

ART DECO TRUST EVENT

Experience the fiery heart of history as we transport you to the moment Napier was reborn! On February 3, 1931, at 10.47am, disaster struck, and the city was reduced to rubble by a catastrophic earthquake and a raging inferno. However, from these ashes, Napier emerged anew. Join our 90-min tour, filled with riveting stories, vivid anecdotes, and a select few survivors accounts from the 1931 Hawke’s Bay Earthquake and ensuing fire. These resilient structures bear witness to a city’s unyielding spirit. Walk through the city, where you will witness Napier’s rebirth in dazzling Art Deco style, a testament to human determination and reinvention. Please meet on the front steps of the Kahukura Hawke’s Bay Museum at least 10 minutes prior to departure for a thrilling 90-min adventure through time.

You will also receive a free pass to return to the Art Deco Trust over the weekend to view the movie ‘The Day that Changed the Bay’, at your leisure.
