Hosted by Adam and Megan from The Hits, this free Soundshell concert brings you live 20s and 30s swing, followed by a high-energy set of classic hits to keep those toes a-tappin’!

THE BIG BAND BASH

Get ready, Hawke’s Bay! The biggest concert of the festival is here! The Hawke’s Bay Jazz Club Big Band is hitting the Soundshell stage to bring the roaring 20s & 30s back to life in style.

Swing, shimmy, and dance the night away as we kick off a massive weekend of celebrations. Bring your friends, family, and all that jazz. It’s going to be unforgettable!

The Hawke’s Bay Jazz Club Big Band was reformed in 1991 and since then has become a major contributor not only to the annual Art Deco Celebrations, but also the dance and jazz communities in the region. The band regularly travels overseas to perform. Musical Directors are James Lowe and Alex Walker. Currently the Band’s members range in age from 15 to 75, proving that jazz music is something for all ages. 

BOOGIE WITH THE BEATGIRLS

Catch the irresistible ‘BeatGirls’ as they take you on a musical journey featuring the sizzling sounds of 1930-60’s girl groups, Beatles, Nancy Sinatra, Soul and Motown, Abba, the 80’s and Amy Winehouse. Expect to hear a range of hits from over many decades performed with excellent vocals and harmonies to boot! Bringing a wealth of experience to the stage this group is applauded by young and old, both locally and internationally, captivating audiences with great costumes, sassy choreography, humour, and a fabulous repertoire guaranteed to pack the dance floor and thoroughly entertain.
